Novasyte Nurse Uses Her Cancer Survival to Empower Others

Phoenix (PRWEB) November 14, 2008 -- Phoenix resident and Novasyte Clinical Educator, Claudine Mora, owes her life to softball. Nearly 19 years ago, she was hit in the chest while playing a game on the diamond and ended up finding a cancerous tumor in her breast.

"I was hit by a softball and it truly saved my life," Mora said. "A couple months later I was in surgery for breast cancer."

After months of treatment, she was able to fight the cancer and survive. The experience has made her a better nurse for Novasyte, a leading professional medical solutions firm, helping Phoenix patients relate to issues that breast cancer patients face.

"I have more compassion for patients fighting breast cancer because I have been there," Mora said. "I know how it feels to be sick and I definitely know what it is like to lose your hair."

She also understands the emotional spirit that cancer patients need to have to keep themselves moving forward -- one day at a time.

"Patients with breast cancer have to have faith that they are going to be ok," Mora said. "Everybody has a reason and a purpose that keeps them moving forward -- maybe it's the smell of flowers or even a smile on a child's face. Always believe, that is one of the most important things to remember."

Today, nearly 19 years later, she uses her life changing experience to build awareness of breast cancer via being involved with the Race for The Cure fundraising efforts. Along with being involved with Novasyte Inc, a medical device clinical education company that provides end users the appropriate inservice on their newly acquired medical devices.

"It is very important for women to do their Buddy Check 12 self-exam," Mora said. "That will ensure that more women get their cancer discovered early which increases the chance of being a breast cancer survivor like me."
